Northeast Japan has been struck by a powerful earthquake that triggered initial tsunami warnings, the warnings have since been rescinded. The 6.9 magnitude quake struck off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, which was badly damaged by 2011’s devasting earthquake and tsunami.
