U.S. President Donald Trump’s national security advisor Robert O’Brien said Sunday in an interview that aired Monday that there would be a “very professional” transition to the Joe Biden administration, saying that if the “Biden-Harris ticket is determined to be the winner, and obviously things look that way now,” he’ll ensure the transition from the National Security Council goes properly.
It’s a stark contrast from Trump, who continues to make false claims about the election, even tweeting on Monday that he “won the election.”
O’Brien added that he was “old enough to remember” the transition during the Bush v. Gore period in 2000 did not start until mid-December and yet the administration at the time was still able to get it done. He said that if they’re in a situation where they’re not going into a Trump second term, “if it’s another outcome, it will be a professional transition, there’s no question about it.”
